Civil War Round Table to hold 'Roadshow' appraisals at meeting

John Sexton, an appraiser and dealer in Civil War items for over a quarter of a century, will conduct a "Confederate Antique Road Show" at the Washington Civil War Round Table meeting on Monday evening, August 27, at 6 p.m. at The Fitzpatrick Hotel on the Square.

"Everyone is encouraged to bring your Civil War items to the meeting and have Mr. Sexton examine them," Claibourne Darden, Round Table president, said. "He will tell you about your item and tell you what it is worth on today's market. He can also give you instructions on the proper care of your items. This will be a fascinating and informative program and a unique opportunity in our part of the country. Come see what our forefathers used in defending their homeland."

Darden says that the public is invited and welcomed. The cost of the meeting is $10 per person and includes "a very nice" dinner. Please make reservations, as soon as possible in one of three ways: by e-mail at claibourne@dardenatlanta. net ; fillout reservation page (www.darden-atlanta.net/Pages/ Claibourne/Hobbiescwrt.html); or by calling 404-210-5811 and leaving a message.

Membership in the Washington Civil War Round Table is open to everyone, and new members can join at the meeting. Annual dues are $25 for individuals, $35 for a family and $15 for students.
