Blackmon receives Silver Beaver Award from Boy Scout Council

Stephen E. Blackmon Jr., a native of Wilkes County, has received the Silver Beaver Award in Scouting, presented by the Middle Tennessee Boy Scout Council.

Blackmon's involvement includes helping supply materials to Boxwell Scout Reservation; conducting and serving as chairman of pre-camp and post-camp inspections; serving on the committee for property search; serving on the Council Executive Board as Vice-President for Advancement; serving as 2004-2006 Vice-President Membership; and as 2006-2007 Vice-President of Camping.

Blackmon makes his home in Nashville, Tennessee. He has been involved in the Nashville community for 20 years through his role as the President and CEO of Rogers Manufacturing.

He attended the University of South Carolina where he played football and is now an avid supporter of the Nashville Predators.

The Young Presidents Club, Exchange Club, Antiques and Gar- Charity Fundraisers have all benefited from his involvement. He has been the board treasurer for Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art and the W.O. Smith Nashville Community Music School, a school for inner-city children age 8-18.

Blackmon is also past president of the Exchange Club of Nashville and on the advisory board of the Exchange Club Family Center.

He is the son of Steve and Eleanor Blackmon of Washington-Wilkes.
