McIntosh memorialized at Wilkes Pre-Release Center
Family and friends of OfficerGloria McIntosh gather for the dedication of a monument in her memory at the Wilkes Pre-Release Center. Family and friends were present for the recent dedication of a monument at the Wilkes Pre-Release Center to the memory of OfficerGloria McIntosh. OfficerMcIntosh leaves behind a daughter, LaPrincia Huff of Elberton, Unit Manager Ricky Cobb said, and a trust fund will be set up on her behalf at Farmers & Merchants Bank in Washington.
An American flag, along with Officer McIntosh's badge, was presented to her daughter. "OfficerMcIntosh was a dedicated officerand will be missed," Cobb said.
The memorial was the effort of many volunteers moved by the officer'sdeath, Cobb said. "We'd like to thank a lot of people for their contributions. Century Granite of Elberton, Sgt. Francis Kidd and his family, Mrs. Julie Mosby and Mr. Dennis Hasting, all of Elberton for the monument and engraving; OfficerTim Crook and his family for the tree, rose bushes, and the gravel that surrounds the monument; and Ruffin Flag Co. of Washington for the flagand Donna Hardy from the Washington Wilkes Chamber of Commerce for all of her help and support."
McIntosh had been with Wilkes Pre-Release Center for one year.
