Tignall Council adopts ordinance on poultry houses

The regular meeting of the Tignall City Council was held August 8 at 7 p.m. Those present were Mayor Richard Gammon; council members, Nobie Keener, Charles Bradley, Albert Huyck, Leon Aycock and Tom Jackson. Also present were City Attorney Michael Horgan; Clyde Davis, and city clerks, Linda Daniel and Elaine Jackson.

A public hearing was held August 1 and August 8 for the reading of the commercial poultry houses ordinance. Those present were Dr. Sophia Bamford, Sybil Ashmore, Walter Parker, Beatrice Bankston, Hazel Daniel, Vernell Holland, Jim Hutchison, and Betty Dunson.

Topics of discussion included complaints about stray dogs. The leash law is still in effect. The drainage ditches on Lindsey Street are clogged with debris. Roof bids were opened from Adam Bohler, C&W Roofing,and Mike McKittrick.

Well No. 6 was discussed. It needs a new pump, pipes and a motor. The council decided to have this done since this is the city's best water producing well. Unpaid property tax was discussed. There are only two remaining unpaid.
