Our guest speaker at Sardis Baptist Church Sunday in the absence of Rev. Jim Newsome who was in Florida attending a wedding, was George Pate. Monica Gunter led in the singing with Pam Hall as pianist. Courtney Gunter held children's church and the nursery combined. Family night was held Sunday evening with a covered dish supper with mission meetings following. There will be a shoebox ministry dedication the first Sunday in November. You are invited to come to Sunday School at 10 a.m.; worship service at 11 a.m.; and evening worship service at 6 p.m. every Sunday; and prayer meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Echols Home every Wednesday evening.

The Rayle Ramble will be held at City Hall on Saturday, October 27, at 10 a.m. Tickets for chicken barbecue plates prepared by the Rayle Fire Department will be sold. The department will also have hamburgers and hotdogs. Other food vendors will also be available. Booths of jewelry, crafts, games, and other fun things are planned for the young and old alike. Bring your lawn chairs and spend the day and have a good time. There will be singing by country music star Terri Gibbs, singing groups and many local singers. Homecrafts, jewelry and many other pretty things will be sold. There will be bingo and the country store featuring homemade goodies and canned goods.

Our prayers are for Barry Armour who was severely burned in a cooking accident Saturday evening. He was transferred to the burn unit in Augusta Sunday morning.

Pam Hall's mother, Frances Ware of Washington, came through surgery well Thursday and got a good report. Peggie Walker had surgery Monday of last week and is recuperating nicely at home.

Ethan and Jackson Armour showed heifers and steers in Perry last weekend and did well. Going with them were Tracy and Denise Armour, Justin Armour, and Audra Chapman.

Everyone was glad to see Penny Vaughn of Martinez visiting in the community Sunday and at Sardis Church Sunday morning.

The open house at the country stores and barns at the home of Billy and Doris Walker was well attended Saturday. People came from all around to see the spectacular display of old tractors, trucks, cars, toys, and many other things in Billy's collection. All of their children came to help them and other relatives came to visit. It was a great day for all who attended. Billy and Doris were glad to see everyone who came.

Jessie Walker of Roxboro, N.C., came to spend Thursday through Tuesday with Billy and Doris Walker. Carrol and Faye brought Jessie and visited, then went on to Florida to spend a few days, coming back by to pick up Jessie Tuesday.

A family fishfry was enjoyed at the home of Ann Williamson Sunday. Joining Ann were Bob and Pat Preston, Lyn and Nancy Williamson and Amanda, and David and Dawn Williamson and Debra. The fishwas caught out of the Williamson pond and was enjoyed with all the trimmings and lots of love and family togetherness.

Clyde and Sandy Whittington and Avery Hall went to Crawford Saturday to the home of Neil and Kim Frankel, Zachery, Kyle, and Bryce, to help Kyle celebrate his third birthday which was the 13th. Kyle's friends from school also came to help him celebrate at his party.

Martha Jones of Bogart, Frankie Jones of Athens, and James and Sharon Smith of Stephens came by Tuesday and took Bonnie Boatwright out to lunch at the Home Cafe in Washington.

Lindley Hall from Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville spent the weekend at home with her parents and brother, Boyce and Pam Hall, and Avery.

Trey Berry from the University of Georgia spent the weekend with his parents, Lamar and Kay Berry.

McCamy Garrard visited Maddie Gunter for a while Sunday afternoon. ƒWashington-Wilkes won over Oglethorpe County Friday night 20-18. The University of Georgia Bulldogs won 20-17 over Vanderbilt. We were mighty proud.

Lyn Shedd of Hull came and had dinner with Johnny and Kathryn Shedd Sunday. Angie Paul of Lexington and Alyssa Stewart and Jeffrey Roth visited Sunday afternoon. ƒBuck and Linda Echols had as their guests Sunday, Greg and Angela Armour and Cody, Rebekah Echols, Scott and Sissy Smith and Abby, and Richard and Lou Heard, Mattie and Hank.

Debra (Bobby) Armour and Frances Fendley met two friends of Debra's from work, Barbara and Vickie, for lunch at the Chinese restaurant in Comer one day.

Kim Berry and Aaliya visited Brooke Berry, Kaitlyn and Bryson Sunday evening.

Ruby Arnold, Ruby Booth, Alliya Berry went over to Flatwoods to a barbecue at the home of Jackie Coile Saturday and were glad to see many friends whom they hadn't seen in a long time.

Margaret Turner of Hephzibah came up and joined Peggy Echols for a postmasters convention in Cartersville over the weekend.

J.W. and Bonnie Boatwright went to Bonnie's cancer doctor Friday and received a good report. Afterwards they ate out at Ryan's in Oconee County and were very surprised and glad to see two of Bonnie's nephews, Calvin Smith and Adam Spence, eating at the next table.
