There is an old German proverb that says, "When I rest, I rust." There is no rust settled with the ladies in the Tignall Homemakers Club. They have completed the beautiful state bird and flower quilt. The tickets are now available. These ladies spent all summer and part of the fall on the quilt and now they are going to be cooking up a big pot of soup to sell at the Tignall Fall Festival. Many people who attend the festival every year look forward to having soup and cornbread made by members of this club.

Layton and Gloria Harris visited Jack and Tommie Heard at Unicoi Springs Resort Thursday and Friday. While there they visited Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Chambers in Dahlonega.

Ralph and Mary Will Denard spent the weekend of October 6-7 in Gatlinburg with friends, Mickie and Norma Boswell from near Memphis. They stayed at the Tree Top Resort. On their way home Sunday they visited with friends at Yonah Mountain.

Mrs. Ila Jacobs of Macon spent Wednesday, October 3, through Sunday, October 7, with Myrline Thornton.

Mrs. Greg Tyler and children, Jordan, Caleb and Sydney, of Hoschton spent Wednesday through Friday of last week with Mr. and Mrs. Alex Tyler. Greg Tyler had to take a business trip to Germany and couldn't be with them.

The North Wilkes Steering Committee met Monday night at the Tignall Lunchroom to finalize plans for the upcoming fall festival. The final meeting before the festival will be Thursday night, October 25, in the Tignall Lunchroom at 6:30 p.m. They need volunteers for setting up tables and chairs and helping out with some of the children's activities on the day of the festival. Also, don't forget to donate a cake for the cake walk. Remember to send in those old photos by October 25 so they can be in the "Memory Lane" display.
