Tigers manage to win despite injury setbacks

      Last Friday night the Washington- Wilkes Tigers won a nail-biter over the Oglethorpe County Patriots 20- 18. The Tigers are now 3-1 in region play and 3-4 overall. Friday night's win, along with Greene County's loss to Morgan County, moved Washington into a tie for second place in the 8AA south sub-region.

Rotary Club to host golf tourney the Friday after Thanksgiving
      The Washington Rotary Club will host a Thanksgiving Golf Tournament Friday, November 23, "the day after Thanksgiving while the women are out shopping," club president Paula Stevens said. The annual tourney, at the WashingtonWilkes Country Club, is a benefit for local Rotary scholarships.

Tiger cross-country meet today
      The Washington-Wilkes Tiger Cross Country team traveled to East Jackson Comprehensive High School in Commerce, Georgia, on October 9, but most of the contest was called due to bad weather. However, middle schooler Joshua McLeroy ran in the 2K race and placed second at 13:07.

Powder Puff football game set
      The WWCHS Student Council will be hosting a "Powder Puff Football Game" on Thursday, October 25, at 7 p.m. at Tiger Stadium. The cost of admission is $3. "This is an open week for the Tigers, and we don't have school on Friday," said council advisor Amy Wheatley, "so we encourage everyone in the community to come out and make this their 'Football Friday Night!
