Kettle Creek NSDAR hears program on 'Civil Liberty During Wartime'
Mark Waters is welcomed by Lillie Crowe to the DAR meeting. Marshall P. Waters III, PHD, was guest speaker at the meeting of the Kettle Creek Chapter NSDAR on Monday, October 15, at the Washington Woman's Club.
Dr. Waters, presented by Lillie Crowe, spoke on the topic, "Civil Liberty During Wartime."
Prior to his presentation Joanne Pollock, regent, presided.
Following the program, Oleta McAvoy welcomed visitors, Gloria Ramsaur, Drusilla Lewis and Nancy Inglett.
Rhonda Keen read the National Defense Message and Jane Roberson, the Indian Minute.
Patsy Bailey displayed the quilt square she made for the State Regent's Quilt Project.
Mrs. McAvoy announced that recipes for the DAR Cookbook could be mailed or emailed to Betty Slaton or brought to the November meeting.
Carol Faz reported on the progress of the Kettle Creek Battleground Committee.
It was noted that Millie Arnold will be the new chairman of the Veterans Committee as Suzette Kopecky will be retiring from the position.
Mrs. McAvoy reported that the Button Gwinnett and Coweta Falls SAR Chapters are honoring the life and service of fiveRevolutionary War soldiers, all members of the Hammett family, in a ceremony to be held on October 27 at 1:30 p.m. at the Hammett Family Cemetery on Courtground Road. The Kettle Creek Chapter will participate by laying a wreath and providing refreshments.
