Natalie Sharon Sutton marries Douglas Boswell Pullen Sept. 23
Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Boswell Pullen Natalie Sharon Sutton of Fort Worth, Tex., and Douglas Boswell Pullen of Washington exchanged wedding vows Sunday, September 23, at fiveo'clock in the afternoon on the beach at Savannah Lakes Resort in McCormick, S.C. Tom Stilwell of Washington officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Jim and Debbie Sutton of Fort Worth, Tex.
The bridegroom is the son of Charles and Dianne Pullen of Washington.
The couple exchanged vows under an arbor made by their mutual friend, David Verdery of Marietta. As guests arrived, they were encouraged to leave their shoes under the wooden sign made by the bridegroom that read "Don't be discreet, show your bare feet."
The prelude included preparatory songs all based on Song of Solomon and selected by the bride's father. The processional was "Prelude to Lohengrin" by Wagner in keeping with family tradition as it was used by the bride's mother and both sisters in their weddings. "Oh My Love" was sung by Vicki Burk of Washington and signed by Morgan Verdery of Marietta.
Mr. Pullen was his son's best man. Groomsmen were Thorne Brown, Jon Griggs, Gaynor Hardy and John Moon of Washington; Blake Davis of Tignall; Jay Raymond of Forsyth; Jimmy Sutton of Alpharetta; David Verdery and Erich Verdery of Marietta. They were attired in black pants, black button down shirts with rolled-up sleeves and orange ties.
Brad Sandifer of Lincolnton and Jesse Verdery of Fort Worth, Tex., were ushers.
Serving as bridesmaids were Jessica Brown of Buford; Holley Burk, Noel Griggs, and Karmen Moon of Washington; Brekken Tadsen of Alpharetta; Summer Tobey of Athens; Jenyfer Verdery of Fort Worth, Tex.; Morgan Verdery of Marietta; and Susannah Sutton of Crestview, Fla. Their dresses in burnt orange were fashioned in different styles.
Brennah Griggs and Margaret Griggs of Washington were flower girls. They wore white dresses and carried small bouquets. Brennah wore pink sequined flipflips while Margaret had pink sequined ballet slippers.
Samuel Moon of Washington and Benjamin Verdery of Fort Worth, Tex., were ring bearers. Samuel wore a black jumper with his initials embroidered in orange while Ben's attire matched that of the groomsmen.
The bride chose a strapless gown and added a burnt orange sash to match her bridesmaids during the reception.
Her veil was by her grandmother, Pat Tippins of Washington.
She carried a bouquet of white roses with seasonal burnt orange flowers.
She also wore her mother's pearl necklace, bracelet and earrings.
At the close of the ceremony, the couple enjoyed their very first kiss saved for their wedding.
Reception
Guests were transported by golf carts from the ceremony to the indoor-outdoor reception in the resort convention center.
Jennifer Bailey of Washington decorated for the occasion using burnt orange, pink, blue and green with the black base color. Inside tables were centered with goldfish in vases with rocks in the four colors of the wedding in the bottoms and additional matching floating beads. Centerpieces outside were thorn trees with colored beads at the end of each thorn.
Family and friends provided the light dinner and dessert buffet. A children's table held peanut butter and jelly, goldfish,and a bowl of marshmallows and M&M's.
The bride's three-layered cake featured a topsy turvey design with buttercream icing and chocolate fondant appliqués. Layers were diagonal stripes, polka dots and checkerboard in four colors. The top was of curly sugar straws in the colors of the wedding.
The bridegroom's cake was a lake theme topped with a wakeboarder behind a boat.
During the evening the bridal couple danced to "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" by Isreal Kamakawiwoole and the bride danced with her father to "Beautiful."
Wedding guests formed an arch of sparklers as the couple departed and then completed their exit by water on the bridegroom's jet ski.
Following a honeymoon at Amelia Island, Fla., Mr. and Mrs. Pullen are making their home in Fort Worth, Tex.
Rehearsal Dinner
Charles and Dianne Puller entertained at a rehearsal dinner honoring Natalie Sutton and Douglas Pullen in the Commander Room of Savannah Lakes Resort on the eve of the wedding.
The bride-elect chose a black and white halter dress.
White linens covered all the tables. The buffet and head table featured matching arrangements of red Alstroemeria, white daisies and yellow calcenia with red candles in the candelabra. Guests tables held the same flowers in red glass cubes accented with red bandana ribbon bows.
A delicious dinner of barbecue was enjoyed with all the trimmings.
Guests enjoyed viewing slides of the couple from their childhood to adulthood.
The prospective couple presented gifts to their wedding party.
Eighty-fiveguests were invited.
