Tiger runners at end of season, now preparing for region meet

On Thursday, October 18, the W-W Tigers held their last home cross country meet. Four teams representing Morgan County, Taliaferro County, Georgia Military College, and Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School competed at the local course.

There were 17 runners in the girls division. Dixie Lee Trimm ran a 24:20 course and Sara Shouse finished in 37:55.

Twenty-nine boys ran the 3.1-mile course with Ian Coe placing first with a time of 17:58. Other finishers were Tyler Stasyshyn, 20:09; Josh McElroy, 21:20; Chase Shelton, 21:38; Evan Harrison, 21:40; and John Pope, 21:48. As a team, Washington-Wilkes placed third. Coach Benita Sanders was pleased with the improvement of all the runners' times.

The last cross country meet is scheduled for Saturday, October 27, and the region meet is set for November 3. Both will be held at Oglethorpe County High School in Lexington.
