Advance voting for next week's November 6 regular election ends Friday, November 2, and polls open across Wilkes County at 7 a.m. Tuesday to elect mayors and councilmen in three cities, and to approve the continuation of SPLOST.

Advance voting is still available through Friday. "Those who wish to cast their vote in person for the City of Washington or the countywide SPLOST may vote at the Voter News- Registrar's officethrough 5 p.m. Friday," said Chief Registrar Gladys Reese. There will be no voting Monday.

On Tuesday, November 6, all voters will go to their regular poll News- locations to vote in the County-wide SPLOST. The city of Washington will go to either the Edward B Pope Center for District 1 and the Courthouse (2nd Floor) for District 2. News- Voters in Rayle and Tignall go to their regular poll locations. "With two elections in the City of Washington and County and elections in Rayle and Tignall there is bound to be some confusion," Reese said, "so please call the Voter Registrar at 706-678-1850."

Since all Washington officesup for election are contested, candidates were given one last chance to share their views. See page 13.
