Erin Leigh Espiritu, Steven Poston united in marriage September 29
Erin Leigh Espiritu and Steven Poston of Appling exchanged wedding vows Saturday, September 29, at five-thirty o'clock in the afternoon at the Fitzpatrick Hotel in Washington. Rev. Don Widener of Grovetown officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Roland Espiritu of Hawaii and Kay Espiritu of Hephzibah.
The bridegroom is the son of Jerry Poston and Cynthia Thornton Jackson of Hephzibah. He is the grandson of Eugene and Reba Thornton of Washington.
Sage taper candles in hurricanes, sage and chocolate tissue flower mantle arrangements, and white linen cloths with chocolate linen runners were used in decorating and carried a "P" monogram theme.
The grandparents and parents entered to "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong and the wedding party processed to "Unchained Melody." "Wedding March" was offered for the bride's entry.
Mr. Poston served his son as best man. Usher-groomsmen were Jonathan Sebold and Hunter Ciccio of Hephzibah and Brian Wray of Turin.
Callie Pagerly of Grovetown served as the honor attendant. Her gown was fashioned with a chocolate silk top and chocolate chiffon skirt. She carried a silk bouquet of hydrangeas and Burgundy roses.
Bridesmaids were Crystal Lynn of Martinez, Kay O'Brien and Kim Ciccio of Hephzibah. They were gowned in chocolate chiffon tops and skirts and carried silk bouquets of hydrangea and Burgundy roses.
Flower girl, Emily Lynn of Martinez, wore an ivory silk organza dress with a khaki silk sash and a khaki embroidered "P" and carried a basket of green and white rose petals.
Evan Sebold of Hephzibah served as ring bearer.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride was radiant in her gown designed with an embellished halter bodice and flared silk skirt. Buttons adorned the back of the gown and train.
She carried a bouquet of sage green hydrangeas.
Nancy Wilson provided the bride a lace handkerchief bouquet cuff.
For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Espiritu chose a chocolate and black linen pantsuit.
Mrs. Poston, the bridegroom's mother, chose an aqua jacket with knee-length black skirt adorned with an aqua and pink floral design.
Reception
Following the ceremony the bride's family entertained at a reception at the Fitzpatrick Hotel.
The wedding table featured the cake, a three-tiered square confection adorned with sage ribbon around each tier. Each vanilla layer featured fruit fillings. Silk roses and red berries on a bed of palm fronds decorated the cake finished with white "P." It was made by Ruby Gomillion.
Assisting in serving were Herbert Espiritu, Randall Espiritu and Chris Dupont, uncles of the bride, and Lawrence Espiritu, cousin of the bride, of the Augusta area.
Following a cruise to Nassau and Key West, Mr. and Mrs. Espiritu are making their home in Appling.
Washington was chosen as the location for their wedding festivities because it is the home of the bridegroom's mother's family.
Rehearsal Dinner
The bridegroom's parents were hosts for a rehearsal dinner at the Fitzpatrick Hotel dining room honoring Erin Leigh Espiritu and Steve Poston on the eve of their wedding.
Guests enjoyed a dinner of chicken parmesan, garlic mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables and blueberry cheesecake.
During the evening the bride-elect presented her attendants gifts of silver monogrammed compact mirrors and the prospective bridegroom presented gifts of silver monogrammed knives to his wedding party members.
