Wills Memorial Hospital hosted its annual "Tour for Treats" on October 31. Approximately 40 children and grandchildren of hospital employees were taken on a tour through the hospital. Each department provided treats for the children and displayed Halloween decorations. WMH patients and employees enjoyed the sights and sounds of children trick-or-treating through the halls.

After the tour, the children met in the hospital café and Washington Police Lt. Robert Roca shared safety hints on trick-or-treating. WMH patients, Jane Hudson and Alene Randolph judged the children's costume contest. Winners were Jasmine Johnson as Dorothy from Wizard of Oz, first place girl; and Cody McLeroy as a pirate and J.T. Smith as a 1970s hippie tied for first place among the boys.

Hospital departments had decorated pumpkins to add to the festivities. The pumpkin decorating contest was judged by Wilkes Health Care employees Sherrye Denard, Laura Howard, and Cheryl Holaway. The grand prize winner was "Dolly Witch" entered by Materials Management. The second place winner was "Itsy Bitsy Spider" entered by Rehab Services. Third place was Tigers vs. Red Devils entered by Medical Records. Honorable Mention went to the Specialty Center and Performance Improvement for their "Monster Bash Operating Room." The hospital administration expressed its thanks to Bi-Lo management for donating pumpkins for this event.
