Southern Fried Football
What a great weekend of college football we just witnessed! With conference races going down to the wire another wonderful weekend for college football fans seems to be in store. Let's take a look at the big games in the South.
Louisville at West Virginia - Tonight's ESPN featured clash should result in a victory for the home-standing Mountaineers. West Virginia by 16.
Virginia at Miami - Al Groh's Cavaliers seem to be heading for a Division showdown battle with cross-state rival Virginia Tech. Miami stands in the way, but Virginia should continue its roll. Virginia by 3.
Wake Forest at Clemson - The Demon Deacons were stunned by Virginia last Saturday. Now they must face a Clemson team which found new life in mid-season and has its collective eyes set on an ACC Championship. Clemson by 10.
Georgia Tech at Duke - Tech should manage a win against hapless Duke, even in Durham. Georgia Tech by 17.
Kentucky at Vanderbilt - Vandy should put up a good fight at home, but Kentucky has too much firepower. Kentucky by 12.
Alabama at Mississippi State - This could be a trap for the Crimson Tide following last week's tough loss to LSU. Sylvester Croom has the Bulldogs playing much better these days. Bama won't forget last year's upset loss to State, however. Alabama by 13.
Arkansas at Tennessee - The surging Razorbacks travel to Knoxville for a big SEC encounter with the Vols. The home field advantage should be just enough of an edge for the Volunteers. Tennessee by 3.
Auburn at Georgia - The Dawgs spoiled Auburn's season to a great extent last year. Georgia is so unpredictable this year, but they should escape with a close win. Georgia by 2.
Florida State at Virginia Tech - There is a team over in Charlottesville, Virginia that is hoping the Seminoles can pull two upsets in a row. The Seminoles knocked off #2 Boston College last Saturday night and face an opponent just about as tough this week. Virginia Tech is playing well and should have just enough to overcome FSU's upset bid. Virginia Tech by 3.
North Carolina at North Carolina State - Of course neither one of these teams are going anywhere in the post-season, but Tom O'Brien has the Wolfpack playing much better than it did earlier in the season. North Carolina State has an intense dislike for the Blue Billies from Chapel Hill. State by 6.
Florida at South Carolina - The Gamecocks are reeling from three straight conference losses. Their defense was trampled for over 500 yards rushing by Arkansas last Saturday night. The Gators have a balanced attack and should cruise in this one. Florida by 14.
