'We still need to do better'

Wilkes County's EMA Director Alan Poss (left) spoke to the Washington Rotary Club at its regular meeting on Thursday, November 15, and told members that Wilkes County is "better off" than much of the state was far as drought conditions go. One reason, he said, is because our people are working hard to conserve water in accordance with state guidelines. Another reason he mentioned is that our community leaders, in the past, had the foresight to plan and engineer for such conditions. However, Poss said the drought shows no sign of ending for at least a year and "we still need to do better." Jerry Hackney was program host for the day.
