Norma Alice Blackmon Wallace honored at 85th birthday party
Norma Alice Blackmon Wallace Norma Alice Blackmon Wallace was honored on the occasion of her 85th birthday at an afternoon party with family and friends at her home on Hudson Drive Saturday, October 27. Festivities were hosted by her son and daughter-in-law, Theron and Frankie Wallace of Conyers, and granddaughter, Mollie Wallace of Athens.
Mrs. Wallace looked lovely in her sapphire blue dress adorned with a red rose corsage, a gift from her next-door neighbor, Frances Shank.
As visitors signed the guest book on the front porch, they were surrounded by a beautiful setting of chrysanthemums, pumpkins and fall corn, a gift from her nieces and nephew, Becky Blackmon Hooten of Washington, Linda Blackmon King of Winston-Salem, N.C., and James H. Blackmon of Warrenton.
Mrs. Blackmon greeted her guests in the living room where a nearby table held birthday cards, trays of homemade chocolate chip cookies and mints, and a beautiful arrangement of Rubrum lilies in a lovely antique crystal compote, sent as a gift from Cornelia Harris Johnson.
The dining room table was covered with an Army-Air Force cloth and was centered with a beautiful arrangement of Rubrum lilies, roses, iris, daisies and greenery, a gift from "The Ole Bridge Club." The table was filled with an array of homemade cakes with the focal one being Mrs. Wallace's favorite, a Japanese fruit cake. Also on the table was the sterling silver punch bowl filled with a Southern favorite of sweet tea that was served by Wayne and Susan Blackmon Hisaw of Martinez.
Beautiful arrangements of flowers, gifts to Mrs. Wallace, were throughout the house.
