Southern Fried Football
College football, the most colorful and exciting spectator sport
in America, has delivered more excitement this year than ever
before! All season long the upsets have piled up and last week was
no exception. Arkansas stunned nationally ranked #1 LSU 50-48.
There are precious few games left in the regular season, but there
are three conference championship games on tap for next Saturday.
Tulsa vs. Central Florida - Tulsa's Golden Hurricane takes on
UCF's Knights (f/k/a Golden Knights) for all the gold Conference
USA has to offer. Both teams sport 9-3 records, but Central Florida
has really been rolling lately. These two high powered offenses
should light up the scoreboard, but the defense of Central Florida
is a little stronger. UCF by 8.
Boston College vs. Virginia Tech - In its first ACC Championship
game Boston College takes on traditional powerhouse Virginia
Tech. BC quarterback Matt Ryan may be the best QB in the country
and he may win the Heisman, but Frank Beamer's rugged Hokie
defense spells the difference in this one. Virginia Tech by 7.
Tennessee vs. LSU - The SEC Championship game may actually
be a colossal mismatch. LSU has stumbled down the stretch, but
Tennessee has too many weak spots on both sides of the ball. UT
quarterback Danny Ainge will have to be sensational to pull off the
upset here. LSU by 12.
