80th birthday celebration full of memories for Frances Bridges

Family members helped celebrate the 80th birthday of Frances Echols Bridges on Saturday, December 16.

Frances now lives in Athens, but lived for 25 to 30 years in the house that Joyce Chamberlaine now lives in. Her children, Billy Bridges, Kathy Kinney, Larry Bridges, and Ronnie Bridges, all of the Athens area, met for breakfast at the home of their mom where she was given a digital camera for her birthday.

They brought her to the Jackson Crossroads homeplace where Joyce Chamberlain was a gracious hostess, letting the family enjoy her home for the day. She even let them go up into the attic where they once played when they were all children.

The children had brought lunch with them, not letting their mother in on the plans.

Also joining them for the day were Frances' sisters, Shirley Bufford, Carol Stone of Charleston, S.C., and brother, Tommy Echols of Nashville Tenn. They visited Clark's Station Baptist Church and the cemetery where her brother, Billy Echols, and parents, George T. and Ethel Echols, are all buried. Frances had taught Sunday School at this church where Frances had grown up. Of course, throughout the day that digital camera was put to good use.

What a delightful way to spend a birthday and relive those fond memories.
