Health care group recognizes Donna Hardy's 'can-do spirit'

Donna Hardy (right) accepts her state award from GAPHC President Ola Smith.
The Georgia Association for Primary Health Care has recognized Wilkes County's Donna Hardy with its 2006 Community Service Award. This award recognizes the person in the state who has devoted time and effort beyond the call of duty to the advocacy, development, improvement or expansion of quality primary health care services at the community level.

Hardy has served on the Board of Directors for MedLink Georgia for six years, and is currently its treasurer, having concluded a term as secretary. She stated on her Board profile that one of her hobbies was "event organizing." She was recognized for the many events she is involved in that improve the health and well-being of Wilkes County's citizens. Among activities mentioned were her service as a County Commissioner, Hospital Authority member, Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Wilkes Wild About Wellness Coordinator, The Health Coalition, and the Community Partnership Board. She coordinated a weekend "paint and fixup" party at the Washington Center, organized welcome receptions for new physicians and staff, and always exhibits a "can-do" spirit in her activities.

She and her husband, Mike, traveled to Savannah to accept the award at the GAPHC meeting.
