Bi-Lo and '06 Charity Classic give $1,000 to primary school

As a result of Bi-Lo's Charity Classic golf tournament, the grocery store chain's Washington store $1000 to Washington-Wilkes Primary School its 10 Days of Giving campaign. "Bi-Lo is a partner with W-WPS and is always generous with its charitable support," said Dr. Rosemary Caddell, principal of the school.
Recognized as the largest one-day benefit golf tournament in the United States, the Bi-Lo Charity Clas- sic hosted more than 1,450 golfers for the weekend's events. The 2006 event raised approximately $5.5 million for the benefit of charities throughout South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee. The tournament was held on 11 upstate South Carolina golf courses as this year's tournament topped the $4.5 million raised in last year's tournament.
The money will be used to support improvements at W-WPS.
