UCAP sets annual prayer breakfast for Jan. 13, 8:30

The United Community Awareness Program (UCAP) will have its annual prayer breakfast on Saturday, January 13, at 8:30 a.m. The event will be held at the Third Shiloh Building, 219 McLendon Drive, Washington.

Tickets are $6.00 each and may be purchased at the Washington- Wilkes Chamber of Commerce and at the door.

The speaker for the breakfast will be Rev. James L. Reid, pastor of the Piney Grove Baptist Church in Thomson and associate pastor of Eastland Baptist Church of Augusta. He is the author of "Women Coming Forth," a book that was inspired by a sermon that he delivered at a women's conference.

Rev. Reid states that the book is not intended to create a divisive wedge among the genders, but rather to tear down the antiquated ways of gender superiority. He will be speaking about "tearing down old traditional attitudes about women in our society."
