MLK holiday to be observed Mon.; 'Pennies for Patients' set to begin

Students, Teachers, and faculty members are back from Christmas break and are looking forward to a productive and successful 2007. A couple of important dates to be aware of are report cards went home on Friday, January 5, and there will be no school on Monday, January 15, in celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.

The middle school basketball season has ended. The boys' team ended the season with an 8-0 record. We would like to extend very special congratulations to each of the team members and to Coach Mark Ward for the undefeated season.

The wrestling season is still in progress. The team wrestled at Lakeside on Wednesday, January 3. The team won by a score of 32-15. The individual winners were: Devon Ferris by pin; James McAvoy with a 8-2 decision; Chad Cordell by pin; Rob Lovvorn by pin; David Martin with a 14-3 technical fall; and Will Lawson by pin. The next match will be a home match on January 16.

The student council will be sponsoring a "Pennies for Patients" penny drive to help kids battling leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. The drive will start on January 22 and end on February 22. Please donate your pennies to this deserving cause. You may drop your pennies off at the middle school office or send them by a middle school student.
