Maggie Cravens selected as DAR's Good Citizen for 2007
Kettle Creek Chapter DAR Regent Mrs. Eugene Pollock and Good Citizen Chair Mrs. Robert Dinneweth presented the award last week. "Each fall, the Kettle Creek Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution presents the Good Citizen Award to the high school senior who best exemplifies outstanding qualities of leadership, dependability, service, and patriotism in the home, school, and community," Dinneweth said. Maggie, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Cravens, has excelled academically, Dinneweth said. She received the Certificate of Merit fro the University of Georgia last year, and is currently the National Honor Society Vice President. She served on the Governor's Summit at Rock Eagle and was selected the U.S. ambassador to Australia in the People-to-People program this year. She is a four-year member of the Tiger Band and serves as a band captain. She is an active member of the Interact Club and serves as the club's Rotary contact. "Maggie is frequently involved in community projects, serving as a volunteer docent at the Robert Toombs House and for the Tour of Homes," Dinneweth said. "She is an active member of the First United Methodist Church youth fellowship where she plays guitar for the youth band, and contributes time to the Angel Tree project."
After graduation, Cravens plans to attend Samford University in Birmingham pursing a degree in pharmacy.
