Woman's Club members hear program on DAR organization

O. B. McCorkle of Warrenton was guest speaker at the meeting of the Washington Woman's Club Monday, September 8.

Dean Mansfield, program chairman, introduced Mrs. McCorkle who presented a most informative program on the Daughters of the American Revolution organization noting the three missions of the DAR as being historic preservation, education and patriotism. Mrs. McCorkle is a member of the Burkhalter Chapter and is involved in the DAR on the local, state and national levels.

She is married to Chris McCorkle and they have two children. She is president and executive director of the Warren County Chapter of Com- merce and serves on other authorities and boards in Warren County.

Prior to her presentation Vivian Walker presided. Bunny Gunby led the devotional, blessing and Pledge to the Flag.

Following the luncheon and program, Mrs. Walker led the business meeting and thanked hostesses, Brenda Phillips, Cheryl Bentley, Mary McPherson, Jean Steed and Dean Mansfield, who decorated with beautiful camellias on the tables and mantels.

Mrs. Walker gave an update on the renovation project and many expressed their appreciation for the work done to beautify the front of the clubhouse.

Thirty-eight members attended.
