I praise God from whom all blessings flow and for His willingness to forgive everyone. That is everyone that believeth in Him and trusts His will. Oh! If all of our friends and relatives could all accept each of us likewise; communicate with love and more understanding, I believe our homes, churches, and nation would be better if everyone could see the Love of God and His only begotten son Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior in our everyday lives. People in general have been so nice to remember me and my family in different ways over the years, especially this past year. I have seen God working in mysterious ways which brought joy to a broken heart and bones mending. There has been a caring, loving family all the way, good doctors and nurses - all guided by the hands and love of the Great Physician. Thanks. ..Thanks to all who gave to the 2006 Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. This year's offering at Phillips Mill Baptist Church was given in honor of WMU Director Priscilla Maxwell and all that she has meant to the church over the years. I feel honored. Thanks. But remember, each of us is a gift from God and what we do with our lives, for Him, from our hearts, is our gift to Him. Food for thought. ..Sincere sympathy to all families who have lost loved ones recently. There was a lot on television about the life and passing of our United States 38th president, Gerald Ford, who was 93; and former singer and musician James Brown, 20 years younger at 73, passing away. It was good to hear the good things that were accomplished by both. You could really tell both touched many lives by the attendance at different gatherings of friends prior to burial. Of course, some may think of perhaps some bad things, but remember they were also human beings who tried. ..Mr. and Mrs. Dan McAvoy and family surely do appreciate the continued faithfulness of friends and relatives dropping by or calling to check on them. People have been so thoughtful to bring food. Several nice fruit baskets were brought from Sunday School classes during the holidays. Among recent visitors besides their children and grandchildren dropping in were special friends, Betty Griffin Duke from out-of-state and her sister, Eva Burdette, Warren and Lois Nunn, Billy McAvoy, Thomas and Mary Jane McAvoy, Mary Hawes, Henry and Faye McAvoy, Gloria Hardy, and Morrison Maxwell, and Pastor Bob Rayner. Each visitor whether mentioned or not is special to them. Thanks for your continued prayers. ..Bob and Betty Ann West enjoyed visiting her mother, Helen Taylor in Madison Heights, Michigan, during the New Year's holidays. ..Gerald Lyle West and his sweet wife Barbara of Surprise, Arizona, their daughter, Laura Dawn, and her husband, Michael Lande, of California, spent some of the Christmas and New Year holidays visiting his sons, Gerald Lyle West Jr. and Bradley West, and other relatives in Jacksonville, Fla.; then New Year's weekend in Washington-Wilkes where they visited the homeplaces and the graves of his parents, Carrol West and Ethel Sherrer West Logan; grandparents, Ben and Della J. West, and great-grandparents, William King Johnson and Fannie Lyle Johnson, and other relatives at Phillips Mill Baptist Church Cemetery and also graves of relatives at Carter's Grove Baptist Church where his mother, Ethel, parents, William Hill "Will" Sherrer and Mary Lou "Mamie" Nash Sherrer and most of her family, first cousins, Priscilla and Morrison Maxwell, their daughter, Mary Jane Scarborough, and Tyler were their guests for lunch at the Home Café in Washington on Sunday, New Year's Eve. Then they went to Loganville to visit first cousins, Charles and Linda Sherrer, and were planning to visit relatives and special friends in Brunswick. ..Rubye West Meadows, 97, widow of Horace Meadows of 1301 Stillwater Drive, Seneca, S.C., passed away Thursday, December 28, 2006.
