Sunday School Union convenes with Reeves Chapel Baptist The Wilkes County Sunday School Union convened with the Reeves Chapel Baptist Church where Rev. Michael Gresham served as host pastor and Grady Norman as host superintendent. The session was opened by the president, Jamie Johnson, followed by the devotional led by Willie Wingfield and Howard Bradley. Singing was by the Flint Hill Male Chorus. The sermon was preached by Rev. Larry Norman entitled "Losing But Not Losing Out." Rev. Norman led the benediction. The Saturday session was opened by Vice-President Larry Smith. Johnny Banks and Tom Richardson led the devotional service and the Bible lesson was taught by Bobbie Hill. Kay Finnell was the youth teacher. The doctrinal sermon was preached by Rev. H.M. Easley entitled "How Far Can You Go Without Faith?" Team B won the Bible bowl. The evening session was opened by President Johnson, followed by the devotional service led by Jaboris Wright and Jamal Johnson. Jasmine Dillard served as youth president and Ricola Patterson as youth secretary. Alice Watts gave the welcome address and singing was by the Union Youth Choir. The inspirational address was presented by Quincy Bradley entitled "Young People, Step Up" The Sunday session was opened by Vice-President Smith and the devotional service was led by Andre Butler and Bobbie Hill. Frankie Johnson presided as Sunday School Superintendent with a total of 50 members present. Singing was by Reeves Chapel Choir. President Johnson delivered the inspirational address and was titled "Missing Out on the Right Stuff." Rev. Dwight Foster delivered the missionary sermon on "The Power of Prayer." Singing was by Reeves Chapel and Frankie Johnson gave hospitality remarks. Rev. Foster led the benediction. The next union will convene with Flint Hill Baptist Church on April 27-29.
In addition to the president and vice-president, other officers are Robin Booker, secretary; Melvene Binns, assistant secretary; and Willie Jenkins, treasurer.
