Paul Smith

Funeral services for Paul Smith, 99, were held Sunday, January 14, 2007, at New Ford Baptist Church, Danburg, with Rev. Albert Rucker Jr. officiating. He died Monday, January 8, at Wills Memorial Hospital, Washington.

Mr. Smith was a native of Wilkes County and the son of the late Doc and Mamie Smith. He attended public school in Tignall and was a faithful member and deacon of New Ford Baptist Church. He was a retired bus driver for the Wilkes County Board of Education.

Survivors include his wife of 82 years, Fannie Pink Barksdale Smith; a daughter, Hattie Lue Smith; a sister, Estell S. Haster; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Davenport & McLendon Mortuary Inc. of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
