Hard work on tour appreciated

TO THE EDITOR:

On behalf of the Washington- Wilkes Historical Foundation, we would like to thank all the gracious participants for their time and efforts in making this year's Christmas dinner and Tour the best ever. We especially wish to thank the homeowners, for without them there would not be a tour.

Year after year, these giving citizens of Wilkes County surprise us with their generosity and we cannot express our appreciation enough. In addition, we owe a large thank-you to all this year's volunteers who gave of themselves to make this event a success.

The Colonial dinner was a complete success due to the efforts of the various cooks and servers. It was overheard that this year's dinner was "the best." The reception was special due to the music and beautifully decorated Livery on Court Street and so we thank Mr. and Mrs. Doug Abramson and our hosts, Mr. and Mrs. Bradley Barber.

Through the many contributions and hard work of these friends of the Historical Foundation and its board members, this year's event raised $8,913.30 with $5,000.00 going to ensure the continued preservation of The Kettle Creek Battlefield.
