Class of 1959-60 ladies gather for quarterly luncheon Jan. 13

A number of ladies from the Washington-Wilkes High School Class of l959-60 gathered at the home of Mary McPherson on Thomson Road for a luncheon and fellowship on Saturday, January 13.

This gathering is a quarterly tradition that began in l999.

Everyone brought her favorite salad which provided a wonderful meal during a time of fellowship. The theme for this luncheon was red and white and each received an oldtime candy valentine box.

A unique birdhouse brought by Mae Dell Huff and a Spirit of the Woods carving done by Shirley Crook were presented to Mrs. McPherson. Gatherings in the past have presented the ladies oil paint- ings by Mrs. McPherson, lovely sewn items by Pat Niemann and flowers to the hostess.

Mary Will Denard was welcomed back after recent illness and prayers were offered for others with illness in the families, Bill and Pat Niemann and Charles and Mary Bradford.

Attending were Joyce Holloway, Fran Thaxton, Mary Will Denard, Linda Standard, Melanie Sammons, Shirley Crook, Mae Dell Huff, Linda Threikeld, Charlene Street and Mary McPherson.

The next gathering will be April 14 at 12 noon. All ladies of the class are invited to come, bring a covered dish and join in the fellowship.
