What shall I give?
By GARY TOOLE

The Bible says to be a cheerful giver.

Right off we want to jump the gun and think it's all referring to money. There are more ways to give than with money; more ways that are more priceless.

Way back in the 1940s, a poor raggedy boy went to a mission service at a church and many were giving money and he had nothing to give. He stood there with a heart full of love for God with tears flowing down his face and saying, "Oh Lord, what shall I give? What shall I give you, Lord.?"

As the ushers passed by he cried out, "Oh sir, please put the offering plate on the floor." The usher hesitated at first and then placed the plate on the floor and the little boy stepped his dirty bare feet into that plate and wept as he prayed a prayer that broke the hearts of stone in that service that night.

He prayed, "Oh Lord, I have nothing to give, but I give you myself."

Oh how powerful. There's nothing more priceless. I'm reminded of the statement that Peter made when he said, "Silver and gold have we none, but such as we have, give I thee in the name of Jesus.

What more can you give? Glory to God. Can you say amen?
