Lucy Mae Wilkes Chapman Graveside services for Lucy Mae Wilkes Chapman, 90, of Molena were held Friday, January 19, 2007, in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Union Point with Rev. Farret Boswell officiating. She died Monday, January 15, at the Molena Nursing Home. Mrs. Chapman was a native of Wilkes County and was the daughter of the late Amos and Nannie Turner Wilkes. She was the widow of G.L. (Buck) Chapman. She attended Wilkes County schools until she entered textile work at age 14. She was a machine operator at Thomas Textiles and retired from Union Manufacturing Company in Union Point with over 25 years of service. She worked as a weekend hostess for the Waffle House in Greensboro. She was a member of the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Union Point. Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Chapman Lanier and her husband James of White Plains, Ella Chapman Bramlett and her husband George of Woodville, and Vivian Chapman Landrum of Griffin; a brother, Herman Wilkes of Surrency; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two greatgreat grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Oak Hill Baptist Church Building Fund in Griffin, or the Molena Nursing Home.
Callaway Funeral Home of Union Point was in charge of arrangements.
