Tigers come to life after challenge, remain at top spot of Region 8-AA
The team bounced back on Saturday night to smash the Red Devils of Lincoln County and on Monday, Keiser said practice was "the best I've ever seen." Heading into a three-game region road trip, the timing couldn't be better as the Tigers head into the final two weeks of the regular season. The game against Morgan last Friday saw W-W close the gap to just two points with a minute to go but no closer. At the end of the third quarter, W-W trailed 41-42 but the Bulldogs tenaciously held on to their lead. In the end, the Tigers absorbed the 51-63 loss. Lucious Stewart led the Tigers with 17 points and two others hit double figures. Jarekus Bowman had a dozen points and Khiry Tutt got 10. "After that I challenged them, and especially Lucious, to become out leader and boy, did he on Saturday!" Keiser said. In beating Lincoln 75-47, Stewart had 23 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists. His brother DeeDee had 10 points and 12 rebounds, and Bowman added a dozen points. A monster dunk by Scotty Long thrilled Tiger fans as did his eight blocked shots.
This weekend the Tigers are on the road against Putnam County on Friday, January 26. On Tuesday, January 30, they will travel to Oglethorpe County before returning to host Greene County on Feb. 2.
