Not of this world
Jesus said plainly, "Keep them from the evil of the world," meaning that the Holy Spirit would do that work in them if they would accept it, not some man-made effort to shelter them from the world and often when this is done children don't mature in a healthy manner. As a Christian you can successfully be in the world without being of the world. You can witness to lost souls without participating in their bad habits. You can let a bird fly over your head, but you don't have to let him build a nest in your hair. The word says in Romans 12:2, "Be not conformed to this world, but be transformed." Apparently some church-goers are misunderstanding what that means. We as Christians are not to take on the world, do as the worldly, and live like the worldly. We are to conform to the word; not the world. We are to mold our lives to the word; not conform or mold the word of God to what we think and to our lifestyle. Transformed means to be totally changed. All new. Not worldly or carnal. When church folk conform to this world then they begin to bring the world into the church and that totally goes against the entire word of the Lord. We are to put off the world, not take on the world. We are to shuck off the sings and heavy weights of this world if we intend to successfully be a winner in this Christian race.
I could ask, "Reckon what part of that do some folks not understand?"
