W-WES holds school spelling bee

Dorian Favors and Ariel Brown were the top winners at Washington- Wilkes Elementary School's annual spelling bee held on January 23. They and second place winners Tyler Scarborough (fourth grade) and Aaliya Berry (fifth grade) advanced to compete in the Wilkes County System Spelling Bee held on January 30. Results of that spelling bee will be published when they are made available.

Fourth grade finalists (top photo) in the W-WES Spelling Bee were (front row, l-r) Amy McAvoy, Octavia Young, Montell Walton, Hope Ward, Joanna Gaskin, (middle) Jacob Morgan, Jamerrus Glenn, Darius Binns, Tyler Scarborough, (back) Kathleen Storrin, Ashlyn Holley, Dorian Favors, and Antonio Jackson.

Fifth grade finalists were (front) Jack Martin, Mary Katherine Strother, Ariel Brown, Wishah Aamir, (middle) Andrew Echols, Tyrick Booker, Brendan Dukes, Ryan Colvard, (back) Marlyse Sifre, Aaliya Berry, and Devon Lewis.
