January is just about gone and I am glad. For some reason I do not like January. For one reason, it's cold and gloomy, and another reason is that after the holidays you sometimes feel "down" in a way. For another reason, there seems to be a lot of sickness and for still another reason you write last year's date for about 50 times until you get it correct. ..We had a good attendance at Ebenezer Baptist Church Sunday. Dr. and Mrs. Dupree were back and we enjoyed another good sermon, "Do You Still Talk about Being Saved?" The message was taken from Ephesians 2:1-10 and Ezekiel 18:5-9. The children's story was entitled "What Does It Do Best?" ..A birthday celebration for Trudy Ingram, Tonya I. Ryll, and Lisa I. Davenport was held at Mrs. Lucille T. Ingram's home Saturday evening. Happy birthday to these three sisters. Others attending were Lona I. Chesnut and Roy, Matthew Ryll and kids, and Elizabeth Dunnaway. ..Peyton Standard of Augusta spent Thursday through Sunday evening with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Standard. .. Randy Goldman of Lincoln County, Cassie Goldman and Bryson, Mrs. Sara Huff, Mrs. Linda Standard were among those who attended visitation for the late Michelle Smith Walker at Lord and Stevens Funeral Home in Athens Friday evening. Michelle passed away earlier in the week. On Saturday, Russell Goldman of Doraville, Jennifer Houpt of Augusta, Sara Huff and Linda Standard attended her funeral at Lord and Stevens East Funeral Chapel in Athens. Michelle is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hegee, several brothers and sisters, and three children, Bobby Ansley III, Aubrye Walker, and Braden Walker, all of Athens. We extend our sympathy to her family. .. Bobbi Thornton visited Miss Grace Dunaway and Alex Dunaway several days last week. .. Mrs. Joyce West visited Mrs. Jenelle Newsome Friday. ..We are sorry to hear that Mrs. Brenda Phillips is in Wills Memorial Hospital. We wish a speedy recovery for her. ..I had dinner with my parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry N. Wallace in Lincoln County Sunday. My sister Nan and her husband Mickey also visited. ..Sincere sympathy to all who recently lost loved ones. ..Jacob Newsome spent Saturday with his grandmother, Mrs. Pat Tuttle, and Mr. Tuttle. Mrs. Newsome's father, Leonard Fain, has been quite ill and in an Augusta hospital. We wish him a speedy recovery. ..Mrs. Peggy Mendricks and Mrs. Rua Bell Davis visited Mrs. Maude Griffith in Greene-Point Health Care in Union Point last Thursday.
