Old Mr. Possum enjoyed supper on the porch Sunday night with our cat, Shadow. He probably visits every night. We just don't know about it. ..BRR! That wind feels so cold as I am writing this on a Sunday evening. It is blowing through every crack and corner of our house. .. Lunch and Learn was held Wednesday at the city hall with nine members present. Everyone enjoyed doing a craft and a delicious meal. Everyone in the club was saddened Saturday as they learned of the death of a very dear member of the club, Mrs. Elizabeth Smith. She was a sweet lady and very dedicated to her family and friends. She was lovingly called "Beth" by her close friends and relatives. She will be greatly missed. Many people brought food to the Rayle City Hall Monday where the Lunch and Learn Club served it to the family. Many attended visitation at Hopkins Funeral Home Sunday afternoon and the graveside service at the Bethesda Cemetery Monday afternoon. ..Rev. Danny Holdredge brought an inspirational sermon at Sardis Baptist Church Sunday. Mrs. Holdredge accompanied him to Sunday School and church. Courtney Gunter played the piano as the congregation sang beautiful old time hymns led by Pam Hall. ..Continuing prayers are for Ralph Smith, Stephanie Chapman, Becky Waters, Mario's baby, Ellie Frey, Gary Rogers, Kathryn Padgett, Marshall Sherrer, Mablean Sherrer, Leonard Fain, Dorothy Callaway, Pete Poss, Thomas Bunch, Roberta Roper, Charles Bradford, Beth Thaxton, Mike Webb, Bill Remsen, James Bowen, Annie Blanche Vaughn, Richard Burkett, Betsy Wynne, and Thelma Favor.

..Barry Echols spent Sunday at the homeplace. J.W. Boatwright visited him there. ..Bonnie Boatwright went over to Bogart Thursday to spend the day with her sister, Martha Jones. They enjoyed eating at Fire Mountain (which has been changed to Ryan's now) in Oconee County. Joining them there were James Smith of Stephens and Frankie Jones of Athens. Afterwards they all went to Martha's house for the afternoon. ..Brooke Berry, Kaitlyn and Bryson spent Sunday with Lamar and Kay Berry and Trey. Bonnie Boatwright made her usual visit on Sunday afternoon. Bonnie also visited Johnny Boatwright. .. Bonnie Boatwright and Doris Walker were saddened Friday as they learned of the death of one of their classmates, Connie Burt Colquitt of the 1956 class of Oglethorpe County High School. J.W. and Bonnie Boatwright attended visitation at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home East Sunday afternoon. ..Whitney Sherrer and her friend Reese visited Billy and Doris Walker Saturday afternoon. ..Johnny Boatwright came over Saturday and split up some wood for us for the wood heater. .. J.W. and Bonnie Boatwright, Lamar and Kay Berry and Trey, Johnny Boatwright, Brooke Berry, Kaitlyn and Bryson, of Washington, Connie Gamble, Bill Gamble, Amber Rachel Gamble, and Clay Haynes of Augusta met at Ryan's for dinner Sunday. ..BRR! I'm ready for summer. This cold chills the bones.
