Elizabeth Barrett Smith

Graveside services for Elizabeth Barrett Smith, 81, of Rayle, were held Monday, January 29, 2007, at Bethesda Cemetery in Greene County with Rev. Donnie Berry officiating. She died Saturday, January 27, at St. Mary's Hospital, Athens.

Mrs. Smith was born in Lincoln County and was the daughter of the late William Richard Barrett and Lilly Pearl Broom Barrett. She was a homemaker and a member of Rock United Methodist Church and of the Rayle Lunch and Learn Club.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph Smith of Rayle; three sons and their wives, Jimmy and Paula Arnold, Lexington, Bobby and Sandra Arnold, Winterville; and Charlie and Linda Arnold, Athens; five grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren; and three sisters, Bessie Epperson, Dalton, Myrtis Scogin, Clinton, S.C., and Gladys Clark, Greenwood, S.C.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rock United Methodist Church.

Hopkins Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
