Geraldine Dill speaks at Black Rock AME Black History service

Geraldine Dill will be the speaker for the annual black history program at Black Rock AME Church, Tignall, on Sunday, February 11, at 11:30 a.m.

Mrs. Dill will address the congregation on her accomplishments in her home county of Wilkes. As a member of the Washington Police Department, she was the first black female police officer in the county. She was the first black female head teller at the Farmers and Merchants Bank; and the first black female to serve on the board of directors for the Wilkes County Payroll Development Authority. She was the first black female president of the Washington Wilkes Chamber of Commerce, serving two terms.

Rev. James Lawson, pastor of the Black Rock AME Church, and members of the congregation invite the public to attend the program.

Dinner will be served following the services and members and guests are asked to wear African attire.
