Pope is Georgia representative in contest

Susan Pope of Washington is congratulated by Bill Rancic, celebrity entrepreneur and season one winner of "The Apprentice," while in New York City on February 15. Pope is vying for a winning spot in the second and third rounds of the national "Dream Ace Contest," which will award one aspiring entrepreneur the business opportunity of a lifetime - his or her very own Ace Hardware store valued at $1 million.

From a pool of more than 5,400 individuals nationwide who entered the contest in January, Pope is the only contestant invited to represent Georgia in the competition in New York City.

Pope was named the state finalist upon evaluation of her completion of the rigorous qualification and selection phase, which included an extensive entrepreneurial-suitability test and three essay questions.

Throughout February, the field of state finalists will be narrowed down to two finalists through a series of interviews, presentations, and other skills-based activities taking place in New York City and Chicago. The Dream Ace grand prize winner will be selected by a live vote by all Ace retailers present at the Ace Hardware convention in Las Vegas on March 15.
