Adopt a puppy

Shown above is one of the sweet little puppies at the Washington- Wilkes Animal Shelter. The puppies need good stable homes. They are wormed and have their first vaccinations.

Alice Green, volunteer at the Shelter, gives the following information about adopting a puppy:

Be sure the puppy accepts and shows affection.

A puppy will need the following items:

A collar and leash.

Two bowls, one for food and one for water.

A brush with bristles if the hair is short, wire brush if the hair is long.

Safe chew toys.

Dog shampoo.

Dog crate. A crate is used for the puppy to sleep; helps with housebreaking; and to spend short periods of time when you can't supervise him.

The Shelter can give you more advice.

Call the Animal Shelter at 706- 678-CATS for more information.
