Ashley Branan entertained at shower Feb. 18

Ashley Branan, bride-elect of Brad Sheffield, was entertained with a Room-by-Room Shower on Sunday afternoon, February 18, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wheatley in Athens. Joining Mrs. Wheatley in hosting the event were Mrs. Tim Purdy, Mrs. Roger McAvoy, Ginger McAvoy and Laura Ellen McAvoy.

For the occasion Miss Branan chose a pink and brown tweed jacket and brown crepe skirt. She was presented a matching corsage of delicate pink roses tied with brown ribbon.

The Wheatley home was beautifully appointed with hearts and flowers to carry out a Valentine's theme.

Guests were greeted at the front door and invited to the dining area where a delicious assortment of party foods was served from a family heirloom table. A chocolate fountain complimented an assortment of fruits and cake squares.

Over 40 guests were invited from the Athens area. Each guest was assigned a room in the guest of honor's new home to select a gift and many useful and creative gifts were presented.

The hostesses presented the brideelect a set of bed linens for the master bedroom.

Guests from Washington in addition to the hostesses were Crystal Purdy, Mrs. Greg Wheatley and Samantha, and the bride-elect's mother, Mrs. W.C. Branan. Special guests of the afternoon were Miss Branan's great-aunts, Mrs. Lois Cobb of Athens and Mrs. Kenneth Malcom of Bogart, as well as a special friend and high school classmate of her grandmother, Mrs. Fay Harrison of Athens.
