Burton presents program to NSDAR members February 19

The Kettle Creek Chapter NSDAR met on Presidents' Day Monday, February 19, at the Washington Woman's Club to hear a special program presented by Emory Allen Burton.

"George Washington and The Year 1776" was the topic presented by Mr. Burton who was introduced by Jane Burton.

Joanne Pollock, regent, presided.

During the business meeting that followed the luncheon and program, the National Defense Message was read by Katherine Allen.

Mrs. Pollock welcomed four new members, Millicent Arnold, Paula Butts, Maxine Singleton and Michelle Smith. Oleta McAvoy presented them their DAR pins. Betty Slaton presented Mary Lois Akins- Newsome for membership and Nita Riley presented Ruth Edwards Cole for membership. Both were unani- mously approved.

Nina Albea reported on the Hindman Settlement School in Kentucky and a flower pot was passed for donations for Meadow Garden in Augusta.
