Ashley Branan, Brad Sheffield honored at dinner party, shower Ashley Branan and Brad Sheffield, who are to be married on April 14, were honored with a dinner party and shower on Saturday evening, February 17, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Brent Marable in Watkinsville. Joining the Marables in hosting the affair were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Sapp of Atlanta; Mr. and Mrs. Shawn Schantz of Dunwoody: and Mr. and Mrs. Steve Fuller of Watkinsville. In honor of the occasion Miss Branan was presented a corsage of winter white roses tied with a silver coffee scoop. Mr. Sheffield had a boutonniere of white roses that included a bottle opener. Mrs. W. C. Branan of Washington, the brideelect's mother, was also presented a corsage of winter white roses. As guests arrived, they were greeted with Italian hors d'oeuvres and cranberry punch. Love and Valentine's Day were the themes shared at the party. Each guest was asked to bring a gift for the kitchen or grill along with a favorite recipe to share with the engaged couple. These recipes were displayed on winter branches that were placed in an enamel container filled with conversation heart candy. This recipe tree formed the centerpiece for the dessert bar. Beautiful arrangements of roses decorated the food and dessert tables. A delicious buffet dinner of grilled chicken, marinara pasta, avocado and citrus salad and French bread was served to guests. The wonderful time of fellowship continued as guests were invited to the elegant dessert bar for fresh fruit, cakes and a decadent chocolate fountain. After dinner the couple enjoyed opening gifts in the family room. The hosts and hostesses presented the couple a basket of their favorite kitchen gadgets and a selection of favorite cookbooks. The engaged couple presented each host and hostess a travel coffee mug, a selection of coffees, candy and a Red Velvet muffin. Each mug had a special inscription and the couple's name and wedding date.
Thirty couples were invited along with special guests, Jack Durham Marable and Rosemary Sapp. Attending from Washington were the bride-elect's parents, Dr. and Mrs. William C. Branan; Mr. and Mrs. Martin Burgess and Mr. and Mrs. Barry Thompson. The bride-elect's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Cobb of Athens, also attended.
