Homemakers' first '07 meeting held February 15 As the January meeting had to be cancelled because of bad weather, the first regular Tignall Homemakers meeting of 2007 was held on Thursday, February 15, at the library. The president, Pat Mack, led the pledge of allegiance to the flag and welcomed new members, Sara Frances Henderson, Margaret Fortson, and Marilyn Summerlin. In the absence of Edna Lamar, Sally Kennedy gave the devotional on the subject of "The Cost of a Soul." The president then gave a trivia quiz on popular stars of the early days of television such as Arthur Godfrey, Red Skelton, and George and Gracie Burns, whose shows many of us hated to miss, but whose names some of us found it a little difficult to call to mind. Linda Burns distributed the 2007 club booklet containing lists of members and programs and hostesses for each month. The president reported that the library roof had been repaired and the spoiled ceiling panels would be replaced, after which the club will discuss what can be done about the damage to some of the interior walls. The club is considering making another quilt featuring state birds for the 2007 Fall Festival, but with a different basic design from the poplar one raffled off two years ago. The president thanked Marilyn Summerlin for cleaning the library after the mess created by the leaks and bad weather.
Hostesses were Sophia Bamford and Joan Baker, assisted by Marilyn Summerlin.
