Back-to-back losses dump Tigers into playoffs to face 5-AA champ Manchester

JAREKUS BOWMAN GOES UP FOR A SHOT
After entering the region playoffs in the top spot from the south subregion, the outcome couldn't have been worse for the Tiger boys varsity. After suffering back-to-back losses on Friday and Saturday nights last week, W-W will enter the first round of the state playoffs with a No. 4 seed against the No. 1 team from Region 5-AA.

At Dawson County on Friday night, February 16, the Tigers fell a dozen points short (49-61) of Greene County, with whom the W-W had split 1-1 during the regular season. That loss dropped them into the consolation game on Saturday which would decide third and fourth seeds going into the first round of the state playoffs. Interestingly, the consolation opponent was Dawson County, who like the Tigers, had entered the playoffs as the top team in its sub-region.

But the Tigers came up short again, this time losing by a mere three points 44-47. The loss threw W-W into the state playoffs facing Manchester, Region 5-AA's champ, at their place set for this Friday night, February 23.

Manchester has an impressive season record of 24-3 and a region record of 16-1. The Blue Devils are also undefeated in their last 16 games.

Other pairings for the state tournament are shown in the brackets below.
