Top cook tells of New York experience
Joe Barnett of Washington was the guest speaker at the regular meeting of the Kiwanis Club on Tuesday, February 27. He presented a most interesting and entertaining talk about his recent appearance on the Martha Stewart show which featured his famous "Shrimp and Grits" dish which had previously won him first place in a statewide cooking contest. Kiwanians were treated to the showing of the audition DVD (produced by Bradley and Katherine Barber) which paved the way for Barnett's selection to appear on the show. In addition, members viewed the DVD of his appearance on the show itself in New York City. Barnett entertained members with anecdotes of his trip and the airing of the show. Harris Blackmon (left) was program host for the day.
