Tignall City Council discusses sidewalks on West Wooten St.

The regular monthly meeting of the Tignall City Council was called to order at 7 p.m. on February 14 by Mayor Richard Gammon.

Present were Council Members Albert Huyck, Leon Aycock, and Charles Bradley; City Attorney Michael Horgan; Water Superintendent Clyde Davis; City Clerks Linda Daniel and Jerri Scott; and residents, Walter Parker and Randy Luke. Council members Nobie Keener and Tom Jackson were absent.

Parker brought up the subject of sidewalks on West Wooten Street. The mayor stated that the city had applied twice for grants for sidewalks with DCA and had been turned down. The city received information from DOT concerning grants that include sidewalks and the city will be applying for them in April.

Luke stated that he was concerned about the Hollander expansion taking the softball field. The mayor explained that the expansion would bring in 40 to 60 additional jobs for the Tignall and Wilkes County area that are needed. The city will look for an alternate location for the softball field and playground. There are grants available for these projects.

Charles Bradley requested that finding another location be in writing so that when the present council is no longer active, another council cannot say there is no record of statement.

There was no further business. Aycock motioned to adjourn with second by Bradley.

The meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
