Angie Benson Jones

Funeral services for Angie Benson Jones, 91, were held Saturday, February 24, 2007, at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Rayle, with Rev. James McIver officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. She died Tuesday, February 20.

Mrs. Jones was a native of Wilkes County and was the daughter of the late Edd and Ida Gresham Benson of Rayle. She was the widow of Wilbert Phillip Jones II. She had been a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, St. Paul Baptist Church, Charlotte, N.C., Dixie Hill Baptist Church and the Move of God Church, Atlanta; and the Move of God Church, Rayle.

Survivors include two daughters, Angie Lee Jones and Marie Delois Jones; six grandchildren, Ricky and Jodie King, Sherry and Jerome Browner, Stanley King, Tracy Jones, Travis Jones, and Keith and Iris Evans; 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Alfred Louis Benson.

Pallbearers included Eddie Bankston, Willie H. Wellborn, Jerome Kirkland, Charles Turner, Lamar Smith, and Jimmie Wright.

McLendon Memorial Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
