'Bored' local kids raise money for Relay for Life

TO THE EDITOR:

I want to let the people of Wilkes County know that we have great young people in our community!

I am the Team Captain for the Relay for Life team at Washington- Wilkes Elementary School. I had a group of young ladies deliver an envelope filled with money to me this morning at school. I asked them what it was for and they said over the weekend they were bored and decided to make a sign and collect money for our Relaly for Life team.

I was so impressed with them that I had to let you know. I think this is a testament to their parents loving care and leadership that these young people would take this course of action when they were bored. So if there is any one out there feeling bored today, you now know what you can do. Think of a way to raise a few dollars for Relay for Life!
