Brittany McMahan earns Atlanta trip in state art contest

Brittany McMahan, an eighth grader at Washington-Wilkes Middle School, has received an "honorable mention" for her artwork in the art/essay contest for Georgia students sponsored by the Georgia Department of Agriculture. On Thursday, March 15, Brittany, and her guests will attend Agriculture Day in Atlanta at the state capitol.

Brittany will attend a breakfast for honorees and will later be recognized by Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin. Special awards will be presented by Governor George "Sonny" Perdue.

The theme for this year's contest is "Agriculture for a Secure Future," and it is the second year that Brittany has been selected to represent her school in the visual arts category.
